Today, sometime, Microsoft is making available for download the final release of Internet Explorer 8. They have a press release announcing its availability, here. However the IE8 homepage - http://www.microsoft.com/ie8 - still points to the RC1 download. That will change at some point this morning obviously and I will update this post with links to the download then.

For now check out the IE8 Fact sheet and start getting yourself ready for the download. Those of you planning on deploying IE8 using the IEAK can start by studying up on its documentation here.

Be sure to check out the IE8 compatibility list below which has over 3,000 sites which need compatibility mode to function correctly, and if your site is in the this list hang your head in shame and get to work on correcting it....its small sites like digg, cnn, aol....
