WindowsConnected HP Magic Giveaway Begins

Well, I have to say that I would like one, but the "Enter the Dragon" contest taught me that, well, some people need it more. I have a cool pc gig already, so entering WindowsConnected's contest is pointless for me.

I just couldn't know what to write in that esey - which is really a filter for guys like me (why enter when someone else who really needs it is probably going to get it?). Ofcourse I could fake the whole thing, but what's the point?

This is such an amazing giveaway!  I can't tell you how much something like this would mean to my family!  We have six sons ranging in age from 13 down to twin 2 year olds.  We have a tiny house and not a lot of extra money for purchasing computers even if they are necessary for the older boys.

The computers and software would help the boys in their education in so many ways!  The media center would mean that we could actually see the videos and pictures as a family and the printer would open up new options for family memories!  

This is far more than I could ever dream of doing for my children or anyone else (I would love to bless someone with part of this package) and I would be overwhelmed to receive something like this!

Sweet prize!  We are empty nesters now and plan to make use of one of our extra bedrooms but setting up this equipment for my husband's use.

We currently have a large PC and would like to downsize that as well!

This prize would really be helpful as I have a 10 year old PC with 7.4 gb which contains all my childhood memorys and this prize could help me tansfer it to a new computer before the old one dies. I would use this prize for school work and also for it's touch screen capabilities as this it would be my first computer in 10 yrs.  It  can store all my software and new memories and yes i am still a student . This package would be really great for movies , games , photos and other fun stuff along with school work . I have never really experienced gaming as i have an old computer which can run may be dos games . I dont have money to buy a new comp as I am still a kid . My horrible old piece of crap computer (Not an HP) died and I really need a new one and can't afford to buy one.  HELP!!!

My wonderful but disabled wife of more than 38 years has an older computer - doesn't even have speakers - and is so slow - that sometimes she has to lay down before it finishes.  Thank you for this great contest and prizes!

I WILL KEEP ONE OF THE LAPTOPS AND EXTRAS THEN DONATE THE REST TO MY CHURCH'S SCHOOL AND DAY CARE.THEY NEED IT MORE THAN I DO TO TEACH THE CHILDREN.

My oldest son is a Public school teacher with a split class of Grades 5 & 6.  He has some real challenges because of this and I believe that  this equipment would be of tremendous help to the students who really need it!

As a grandfather I have been keeping my two granddaughters computers running for years and now there is a new addition to our extended family. My new GREAT grandson. I now have another generation to do repairs for. I can't help but think how great it would be to outfit myself and my granddaughters with super NEW equipment and start the ball rolling for my great grandson. It would also help me get a little eBay business going to start putting away some college money. I think my old dual proc P-III is getting a little tired.

Have been having an awful lot of bad luck lately. My wife and i have lost our jobs after nearly 30 years with the same company.  It came as quite a shock.  We saw it on TV!  Lost our severance and holiday pay as it was bankruptcy.  That was in May.  Haven't had any luck in the employment sector. Then we had a fire in October.  It just would be a nice little pick me up to have a some good luck !

My mom is having problems scheduling with Hospice care for her medications and oxygen. If I win the prize I'd use it to set up a system making it easier for folks in terminal condition to coordinate with Hospice to better provide their needs.

My husband is a Computer Geek and I would love to win this for him. I always win sweeps for myself and the kids and it would be nice to have something for him.

I would give this to my daughter.  She is going to start at the University of California Merced campus next year and will need a better computer to work with.  I believe education is the key to a better and more fulfilled life and she is shooting for a degree in psychology.

Would love to give this to my daughter as she is going into the UC system next year for a degree in psychology.  She would share with her brother to keep in touch with him in the navy.

I recently quit my job to become a freelancer. currently I do all my work on Pentium 4 machine which was purchased two years back. I do a lot of graphics work so the computer is pretty slow. Would love to land one of these babies.

unemployed and in dire need of an upgrade

I have such a mish-mash of outdated, gerry-rigged together equipment. It would be wonderful to get current and have everything work together. Thanx for the shot at doing just that.

I think this package is pretty amazing in itself, but I am currently taking a break from school to work full time as I have a little girl on the way. The computers would help me go back to college and finish up my degree, and hopefully have a successful business of my own one day. And I would definitely be donating some of the equipment to a boys and girls club so they have the opportunity to learn about computers too.

I would very much like to win,  it would not go to waste.  My own computer died 6 months ago, I have to share a comp with Hubby, not fun.  The full computer would be mine.  The most suitable of the portables would become my ereader,  particularly if it can comfortably go to portrait mode for the comics I have scanned.  No, I have never in 40 years outgrown superheroes.  The comics as well as most of my library (over 1500 books) are stored in boxes in the garage,  it is difficult to access them in a wheelchair.  Another portable would be a graduation gift to my son.  I will have to research the mini, I don't know its capabilities.   The Office program would first be used to index my books.  I use my corel program to design various decorative effects to stencil or trace.  I am running out of space.

My daughter in-law was killed by a drunk driver 2 months ago and my son and 3 grandchildren now live with me. My son is going to start going to college and needs a pc. My grandkids are school age and need a good computer and of course grandma needs something to print all there pictures on. Plus a few movies to occupy all our time.  

This would be great at the Historical Society! It would be so nice to show the children from the school tours how to look things up at home about their own home-town. It would be a fun introduction to technology for them! The number of children that would benefit from this is uncountable, making a prize like this...

I would use this to go start online classes. I want to become an event corrdinator very badly. I want to work with hospitals and/or charities to plan events and help out my community. This would enable me to do these things faster. I am already voulenteering my time with events such as blood drives and big brother big sister. A laptop computer would help me out so much!

I would share the computer/software package with two organizations in my city: my local church, which is badly in need of updated computer hardware and software, and a local missions organization I associate with which is dedicated to drug and alcohol recovery, Mission Missouri. Can’t think of a better way to spread some Christmas cheer to those organizations!

I would give a laptop to my husband to use for work. I would give a computer to my son who is wanting to be a full time teacher. I would keep one for myself to upgrade mine. Not sure about who I would give the other one too.

I would use it in my classroom. I have 28 7&8 year olds in a primary school in NZ. To have some portable options would be fantastic.

I guess I'll start with how it would be used in our own house, one or two of the computers (touchsmart and mini) would be used by my husband and I to replace ours which are many years old (we'd freecycle it or give them to the Center for Grieving Children, we wouldn't throw it away).  We would use it for school (we're older, first time parents - yep returning to school), writing(mixed media), working at home, photographs, movies....soon our tv, you name it.

The other two computers would go tomy sister, who uses her computer for her livelihood, helping non profits thrive in CA.  With her RSI, she doesn't like computers but she knows she needs one - and a new one. She works with non-profits and would know who to give the other to.

We are trying to start up a new business this could really be useful for us

My reasons for wanting to win this contest is difficult to right because as I write the words they become more realistic. Please believe me when I tell the hardships my family has endured. First My mom lost her father and a younger and older brother within a 3 year span. It has been hard on her and I see her cry when she talks about them. Shortly after this she became disabled, she won’t tell us everything she has or if it was the deaths of her family members, but I do know she has agoraphobia. I am 23 and I have 2 more sisters one who is 22 and one who will be 16 shortly. I have cancer and just had my cervex removed. My 22 year old sister is disabled with melonoma cancer, which is weird because she has never liked being in the sun. She is also agoraphic (correct spelling?) Myself and my 22 year old sister have a very rare blood disorder called inherited Dysfibrinogenemia. They say they don’t know alot about the disease. But I think it is causing the cancer in us. There are only about 300 people in the entire world who have this form of the disease. If I won this contest I would give my mom and my sisters computers. Because mom and sis doesn’t leave the house and this way they could have a life to read the news or anything they choose. My youngest sister stays at home for e-schooling on a computer because she has to be here to help my disabled family if something happens. Please let me pay it forward and help my family. Please, I know some of you think that this is a fake plea. But it isn’t. All of what I have told you is true. Please let me win, Please.

I would love to have this system to assist with the work the Silvercreekwriters do.  It would be especially helpful with our work with a group of women at an assisted living home.  We meet with them several times a month and support them in their efforts to become writers.  Several of the women's words have been selected for publication.

The Silvercreekwriters also host Second Fridays, a monthly event where we bring writers to share with the community.  This system would help with preparing press releases, flyers and programs for this event.

I would keep one and give the rest to my daughter's school. Her school is K-12 and only has 50 students so they don't qualify for the technology grants that other school's get. They only have a couple of pc's  for all the kids to share so needless to say they would be thrilled to have them.

I have started a small home business and will put the hardware to use in adding more help to grow the business.  I will also be able to do some computer teaching from within my home.  Right now it is a slow moving project because of lack of funds to help it grow.  Customers are already lining up for my products which are computer generated graphic products.

A good way to explore my music recording future

This is a great contest...thanks for hosting it and thanks to HP for their generosity!

If i were to win the contest, I would donate three of the computers to family members. My mother is has a physical ailment that prevents her from leaving home much. She is just beginning to realize the computer can be a conduit to so much interaction with the outside world. I would love her to have her own system so she could explore and learn, two things that she loves so much.

I would donate the other computers to my sister's children. They live in a very rural, economically depressed area. Education does not seem to be highly prized in this area and I worry about their ability to get along in the world as they get older without higher education. Computers would allow them to learn, as well as to give them a chance long term at a better life.

It was very hard to get this thing in 150 words but I did it. I hope it is persuasive, mainly because I want to win. I look forward to blogging about it if I do win, in this contest or in others. But who knows?

How would I use this? At MY age - too late to learn so I would give it ALL to a small, struggling school a block away. Let the "youngins" learn new things and the "teachers" have a "break" with an easier way to do things- sacrificing gets old after a while.
