One Care Dead, Zune Updated, and Xbox Experience out

Yesterday there was a bunch of news. First, Microsoft will be killing off "One Care" and replacing it with a No-Cost anti-malware program code named "Morro" in the second half of 2009. I can't say I am all that sad to see One Care go.

Zune has a 3.1 update out that adds a few new games including Suduko, Checkers, and Space Battle.   They are also dropping the price of Zunes for the holidays, so if you are in the market for player that keeps innovating without having to buy a new one all the time...timing couldn't be better.  I installed this yesterday on my Zune 8 and Zune 30...works great.

The new Xbox Experience should be out there for all to enjoy, assuming you have an Xbox.   I will get one, one day.  Here is Major Nelson's Top ten on things to do when you start playing with it. Netflix looks like it would be sweet, seriously jealous.  Have you played with this, what do you think??

I'm glad to see one care go, I always thought it was kind of a conflict of interest, getting people to pay for it.

yeah that and it really isn't the best on the market.

Zune update still doesn't fix the sporadic reboot which seems to plague the device while on battery; the XBox experience is a joke.

I actually found OC stop more viruses then most AV programs.  I am not very happy about OneCare.

The only problem i have had with my zune is a hang with certain files.  I think i need to re-rip them from the CD....think it is just bad files.

Not being negative, just the shortcomings of these recent updates.  The sporadic Zune reboot, especially with Gen 1 is not file related and appears to only occur when running on battery.  I love my Zune and XBox, I think the Zune updates are great just wish they addressed something that has existed from day one, on the XBox, sorry I think it is the best gaming platform and adding the Mii like look cheapens it.  I love that Netflix is native now.
