UltimatePC.com Launches, Still No New Extras

Yesterday Microsoft launched a new site to help people learn about ways to take advantage of capabilities in Windows Vista Ultimate called ultimatepc.com.  In addition to the existing Ultimate Extras the site has some "Ultimate Exclusives" which are basically services and products with a discount to users of Windows Vista Ultimate.  I guess because you spend a boat load on a copy of Windows they wanted to offer a discount on other stuff you can buy. Here are the three offers they launched the site with.

  • EVGA: Great deals on EVGA e-GeForce 8800 series graphics cards to enhance your gaming
  • Pinnacle Systems: Exciting offers on consumer video editing software and HD TV product
  • Stardock Systems: Promotional pricing on Stardock Multiplicity for Multi-PC control

There will obviously be more of these over time.

From the site if you navigate down to the profiles you will get some photos and art that makes for decent backgrounds.

So that is OK, but what about Extras?  Well they aren't stopping work on them but they are not launching any new extras just yet. There is hope to have some new ones soon, but nothing anyone can commit a time table to.

What are your thoughts on the site and "Ultimate Exclusives"? Will this help the "Ultimate" brand"?  Will you take advantage of any of these offers? Do you even care?
