Xbox LIVE outage not Denial of Service, Just Popular

So looks like the outage that have been intermittently plaguing the Xbox LIVE system over the holidays was not a denial of service attack as many on the inter-tubes have thought or suggested.

Marc Whitten the GM of Xbox Live says "it was the result of a massive increase in usage". You know they had to plan for the selling of a lot of boxes. They know exactly how many are going to be produced and generally how many will be sold.

I guess they didn't factor in that so many folks around the world take off the same time around the end of the year and play video games via the Xbox Live service.  Anyway as a token of appreciate and thanks for your patience he is giving all Xbox Live members a free arcade game.
