Enter To Win A Copy Of Windows Home Server

With the "Launch" of Windows Home Server and as a "I'm Sorry" for being mostly absent for the better part of a month I am going to do a couple of give-a-ways.  The first is an OEM copy of Windows Home Server.

To enter simply add a comment to this post with why you feel you deserve a copy of Windows Home Server. The Winner will be selected by members of the staff here on November 15th. Only one entry per person, please.

I deserve Windows Home Server because I'm whipped & if I were to lose any of my family's pictures, video's or music files my wife would terminate me with extreme prejudice.

Thanks for saving a life!

I participated in the betas and like the product a lot.  I'm an Action Pack subscriber but I'm expecting that MS will not include this product in the AP.  I've still got a WHS system running on the last beta and I'd like to upgrade.  I thought it would be nice if MS had given the betas the gold code as compensation for helping.  Since they weren't that nice, it would be even nicer if you at least provided one beta (me) with the final code <g>.

Thanks for the opportunity

Well I think I deserve WHS because I tested several copies of the beta and was unable to get it completely running on the machine I was testing.  Once I finally got a system that would really do what I wanted the beta was over.  With me not receiving a free copy now and my wife recently getting pregnant I will no longer be able to buy the toy's I once used too.  With that I would love to get a copy of this so I can store all our photos and now our baby photos (8 months away) on a server.

I think that I deserve WHS because I still haven't ever learnt how to use a server, and really want to learn how to do it. Also my computer really doesn't work well as a server with IIS on Windows XP Professional, and I don't want to try any other software, in case I break it.

Well, I was in the beta and loved the product.  I was looking forward to using the final release for real, but it's too expensive for my budget.  My wife was stricken with cancer this year and is unable to work.  So, as the sole "bread winner" of the family extras like WHS had to be cut.

Josh, don't worry. We know that you hadn't abandoned us!

As for the copy of Home Server, I am sure that many of the people here could use or deserve to win it. I can only add that with a mortgage, student loans, car payments, and the usual, that I could certainly use the freebie. I've moved more toward my laptop as my main system, and my older desktop that I built (though up to spec) would make an excellent home server.

If I don't win, congrats to whomever does, and thanks again for making Windows Connected a site that I go to every day.

My family would like to enter the WHS giveaway. We need WHS to integrate our digital lives. How else can we make sure our 4 computers stay up-to-date and protected? How else can we safely protect the digital pictures that chronicle the lives of our 2 young children? How else can we make sure that Fireman Sam is available in every room of the house?

We need WHS because I already spend the entire working day on Microsoft products and it would just make it complete to have Microsoft controlling my home life as well. If they only made a Microsoft bed..

I was in the beta program and I really like the product. I would really like to be among the first in Sweden to have the RTM version :)

Windows Home Server is a plug and play home server device that should make home computer users, Windows smart phone users and Pocket PC users very happy. Buy a big disk drive, plug it in and WHS takes over and adds it to its disk collection;. no formating or partitionong (what's partitioning?) required. This really looks like an excellent product. And if it doesn't work this way right now, it will soon.

I promote WHS to whomever will listen.

I am a BETA tester for M$ and when we finished Vista I was suprised to get the RTM. Soon after that they sent me an email to participate in WHS, I said yes but I was not expecting to get a RTM or free this time around but I did think that they would of at least thought of something to show the partcipants with something. So now I have WHS on one of my PC's that I cannot use becuase of WHS and if I do reinstall on a new setup my key will not work so I am stuck either way.

I would appreicate a free copy of WHS but I feel that M$ really did not know how to show the help and appreciation, not even a discounted price and e-coupon for BETA Testers?

Slightly disappointed BETA Tester, as I did not ever remember reading the clause as in Vista when it was coming to the end that then the only requiremet to get the RTM was to submit a BUG Report that was not a repeat. I guess I did submit a BUG Report that no one reported or I was the first one. This was done in the closing dates of the Vista BETA.

I would love to have a copy of WHS to provide my family of 4 the best Windows/internet experience that will be safe and full of enjoyment.  My kids participate in computer labs at school and always want to show what they did but I currently have no way to connect the 4 pc's in our house in a friendly way.

Please consider me for one of your giveaways.

Thank you Josh.

A copy of Windows Home Server would help cheer me up after going to the Humane Society this morning to adopt a sweet female Corgi that we'd been visiting and inquiring about for the last week, only to find someone beat us there by five minutes and adopted her.

I don't know that I =deserve= a free copy of Windows Home Server, but I sure could use it.  Our house is pretty well networked, but I don't have any system in place for backing up individual PCs and keeping a central store for files.  WHS would certainly help a lot in that area.

So when my mom calls me with a tech problem I can remote desktop to the computer and help :) Plus, if they screw up the computer bad enough (again!) then the file backup will be a breeze

I figure what the heck, I still some time I need to find something to fill it. Between All the Microsoft Betas, the launches under way and Pending, internal training, external sales, training young whipper snappers based on 39 Years of Hands on Starting with hard board wiring  for the 409 Accounting Machines, to the Quad Core 8 Processor 256 GB Server for Virtualized Appliance, I really need the OEM Copy of WHS so I can forsake the last few minutes in a day that would normally be used for sleeping, and fire up the WHS so as complete the "Circle of IT Life", It in the Morning, It in the evening, it at supper time, now that I think about it, WHS would be just the thing to impress my wife, who I once told, " After my Computers I like you best" -- Live Dangerously and Speak, or Just Shut Up and Survive

I would like this for my mother who was recently remarried and lost all of her wedding photos when her laptop hard drive crashed and the data was unrecoverable.  The hard drive completely stopped working!  I think she deserves something new and reliable to store her future photos on.

Routine backup tasks on my home network take:

1. Backup 2 Windows XP boxes using NT Backup = 3 hours + 6 DVD's

2. Backup 3 Windows Vista boxes using Vista Backup = 2 hours + 4 DVD's

3. I don't backup my Media Centre PC with 2 TB of space.

I carry 3 x 2gb USB disks to transfer data between work and home, I send data in email to my gmail account and hotmail account.

I duplicate all Backup DVD's every month.

I don't deserve Windows Home Server - Why?

- because I want to waste: (6+4)x2 = 20 DVD's a month, 8 hours of time I can spend with my family on task that is useful, and have all my photos and media and tv shows un protected from a system failure.

I deserve this because I don't currently know the joy that is WHS. And I'd really like to know.

(and have a nice place for media, backups, etc.)

I'm moving to Nepal and I need something reliable. Nepal is one of the poorest countries on the planet and hardly anything works there. A perfect place for one of Microsoft's better products to come down the pipeline in some time.
