Windows Vista SP1 Beta "In a few weeks"

Today, Microsoft has announced over on the Windows Vista Blog that in a next few weeks we will see a Windows Vista SP1 beta. The target being about 10-15k testers. A later beta will be made available via MSDN and TechNet, no word on when. They are also announcing that the new target release date for SP1 is the first quarter of 2008.  A slight delay in the late this year date that many had expected up until now.

I will post more info soon, in the mean time, check out this whitepaper on Windows Vista SP1.

I can't wait for this fix:

Addresses an issue in the current version of Windows Vista that makes browsing network file shares consume significant bandwidth and not perform as fast as expected.
