Some tech reporters know nothing about Microsoft or Windows Vista and should really stay out of the Tech Reporting business all together, Take Jennifer LeClaire of TopTechNews. Ms. LeClaire botched a very simple news story about some performance updates that were being tested by select beta testers. She turned that information into a Windows Vista Service Pack 1 is going to be shipping on August 14th article, why? I guess the headline read better? More traffic?

Windows Vista's first service pack is arriving on August 14 through Windows Update, roughly six months after Microsoft released Vista
Anyone who even remotely knows anything about Windows and how Microsoft does services packs would not believe this absurd claim. Did she bother to do any fact checking on this, of course not! Where is a Microsoft person corroborating this story? There is none, why...because its made up crap that she pulled out of thin air.
I know Microsoft has been tight lipped about Service Pack 1 information, but there is no way Microsoft would ship something as significant to Windows as a Service Pack with out so much as a proper beta. I really can't believe other sites have even linked this article. Seriously, how can anyone believe this crap? I am hear to tell you this is made up and we will not see Windows Vista SP1 from Windows Update on August 14 and If it does show up on Windows Update on that day, Ms. LeClaire I will give you 100 dollars.
So, Ms. LeClaire you need to do a much better job fact checking your articles because this kind of information not only makes you and your publisher look ridiculous, but also sets unrealistic expectations for those readers of yours who don't know as much about Microsoft and how a service pack release cycle really works. You have done your readers a disservice with this piece of rubbish, hang your head in shame.
