A Friday the 13th edition of the weekly roundup, cool...anyway E3 and the Microsoft World Wide Conference both kicked off this week bringing us a diverse collection of news.
Some of the highlights from E3 for Microsoft were a new Halo 3 trailer, a bunch of Games for Windows Live, and Disney content in HD from Live Marketplace. More info here
Windows Server 2008, and others got a launch date of February 27th 2008. Though I would guess that means it will be RTM by end of year (November) this year much like Windows Vista was.
It has long been rumored that Windows Vista SP1 would be shipping around the same time, which makes the prediction of a Windows Vista SP1 Beta soon, possibly as soon as next week according to Mary Jo. If we do get a beta soon, then the November time seem plausible. It might fix this readyboost bug.
Microsoft shipped 7 security updates this week. Three Criticals, Two Important, One Moderate, and one that was a reissue. If you haven't installed them by now you should head over to Windows Update and do that, emkay.
AMD launch its Unprocessed site, this site is direct communication with AMD and very cool. Plus, we are a member so if you ever need anything we might know a couple of people. What does being a member mean? Basically that we have an open channel for feedback on behalf of our community and that we will get early information on new products. This doesn't mean we will start being some AMD/ATI goons.
Windows Vista Hardware Assessment 2.0 launched, check it out. They have added scanning of up to 25,000 machines enhance machine selection capabilities, and Office 2007 readiness checks.
Windows Live OneCare 2.0 went into a public beta adding Multi-PC management, Printer Sharing, Securing of your Wireless, x64 support, and more. Sign up today.
