BDD 2007 Released to Web

Microsoft just released BDD 2007 to the public download site.  Prior to today, this product/guidance was only available to beta testers.

BDD stands for Business Desktop Deployment, and the 2007 release is loaded with tools and best-practice recommendations to help you deploy Vista.

Hint: Technically... you can use the BDD 2007 tools to deploy XP as well.  But for the record, you should be deploying Vista ;)

If you have more than 25 PCs to deploy, you need to take a look at BDD 2007.  Here are a couple other desktop deployment resources you should check out in addition to BDD 2007:

Good luck with your deployments!

Hey Jeff,

Saw you picked up my blog on windowsvistablog.com - great that you are interested! Just wanted to note that you dont have to find and download the WAIK seperately. In fact, BDD will do this for you and can keep it updated when new tools get released :)

We are looking at BDD being the simple, "here-is-all-you-need" solution for most folks. Thanks!!

Manu - while it is true that BDD can download/install/update WAIK for you, I don't think it's 100% discoverable (IOW - some admins could miss it, or not fully understand the interdependencies).  This might have changed since RC1 (I haven't installed the RTM code yet)... but if the product team's end goal was to make BDD a one-stop-shop, WAIK should have been included 'in the box'.  Regardless, this is an excellent set of tools and best practices... especially the workflow stuff that came from the SCCM team.  Bravo!
