Microsoft Malware Protection Center

In April, we were provided with a preview of the Microsoft Malware Protection Center. Amid the hype of the projected Service Pack 1 for Windows Vista, the Microsoft Antimalware Engineering Team quietly announced the official Version 1 of the Microsoft Malware Protection Center Portal. A nice addition to the portal is the inclusion of the latest definitions fom both Windows Defender and Microsoft Forefront Client Security Antivirus.

In addition to the latest definitions, other additions include:

• Access to the Microsoft malware encyclopedia 

• A "Sample Submission" feature

• Thread and Potentially Unwanted Software Telemetry

• Links to Tools and Resources and the Microsoft Security Intelligence Report (SIR)
